ARTIST STATEMENT
DON LAWLER

Since 1990, Don Lawler has created stone sculptures on a full-time professional basis, usually
monumental in scale, for public and private outdoor sites. Stone sculpture is a time-tested
medium of artistic expression that is shared in common by every human culture. Don creates
contemporary sculptures that are inspired by Mankind’s role in the Universe. The sculptures
are based on concepts that deal with balance between the Man and Nature, as well as themes
of Self Actualization and Self Renewal. He uses intertwining organic forms that playfully
interact with polished geometric shapes to give form to these invisible ideas. The artist hopes
to create sculptures that will endure for ages; speaking to everyone in the universal language of
concept, design and craftsmanship.
