ARTIST STATEMENT
Spanning a career of over 37 years, Don Lawler has created stone sculptures on a full-time professional basis for public and private outdoor sites. His primary focus is to bring delight to the child inside all of us. Each sculpture has a reason for being – it has a story to tell, usually bearing an educational aspect. Don creates contemporary sculptures that focus on the Positive. Common themes include spiritual concerns, the goal of self actualization and the potential of daily self renewal. He tries to spark the imagination by maintaining a focus on Creativity. Monumental scale creations in stone are the outlet for this artist’s efforts. Stone is the world’s oldest surviving medium of artistic expression; it is shared in common by every human culture. The artist hopes to create sculptures that will endure for ages; speaking to everyone in the universal language of concept, design and craftsmanship.
